Kiaan Botha – First Article for Magic Baits

Kiaan Botha

Private Dam, Delmas

It all started with a message from my mom to Mr. Michael Cato, giving me—just a young angler who loves fishing—a chance to write for the Magic Baits website.

Monica Botha’s words:

“Oh wow! I knew Magic Baits was exceptional, this just confirmed it.
Kiaan would love to take part in this incentive…”

And with that, here is my first article:

My day Session – By Kiaan Botha

This past weekend I decided to head down to my favourite local dam in Delmas. Even though the weather forecast looked gloomy and the rain was threatening, I was still hopeful that I’d get a few bites.

I set up my rods and went with a Magic Baits combo that I trust: SloLeak Honey Comb, DCX spray on the ball, and two Swiss Floaties.

I cast out roughly 80 metres and settled in, expecting a long wait.

But Magic Baits had other plans.

Before I could even get comfortable, my first rod started pulling. That fish was the start of what turned out to be six fish for the day.

None of them were monsters, but honestly, it isn’t always about size. Sometimes it’s about being out there next to the water, enjoying nature, enjoying the moment, and feeling that excitement every time the rod bends.

I even managed to land the elusive kurper, which is rarely seen at this dam—so that was a big surprise and definitely a highlight.

AN elusive kurper made an appearance!

Rain or shine, Magic Baits just works. And this weekend proved that once again.

A Word from Michael Cato

“At Magic Baits, we do far more than develop and sell products—we live the sport. Our passion is helping every angler improve, understand their waters, and catch more fish. With this in mind, we also believe in developing our youth and giving them opportunities to showcase their experiences. Kiaan, thank you for sharing your story. Keep learning, keep exploring, and keep the magic alive”
