The Pinortus Story

Why Dudley created it:

By now it’s quite clear that Dudley had a soft spot for fruity flavours — from Cyprinus (Granadilla), to Dudley (Strawberry Mix), Grand Slam (Strawberry), and Peach Melba (Peach). But in his mind, one key fruit profile was still missing:
Pineapple — but not just any pineapple.

He didn’t want a sharp, acidic pineapple like the common flavours of that era. He wanted something rounder, deeper, and more complex, a pineapple with a unique secret kick that gave it character far beyond the standard fruity blends available at the time.

Pinortus was Dudley’s answer.
A bold, tropical pineapple layered with a hidden signature note that added warmth, depth, and pulling power — a twist only he knew how to create. It completed his fruity line-up in a way that only Dudley could imagine: simple, powerful, and unmistakably his own.

Pinortus is one of the flavours that still gets me genuinely excited — probably only second to Peach Melba. I have incredibly fond memories of fishing with this unique pineapple blend and watching carp after carp pick it up with absolute confidence.

In this article, we can’t exactly dive into why anglers loved Pinortus — because, jokingly🙈😄, the list of anglers who fished it is very short: my dad and myself!

But what I can say is that we absolutely loved it. The smooth pineapple depth, the hidden kick, and the way it consistently produced fish made it one of those flavours you reached for with confidence.

And after 26 years of experience in the carp-fishing market, I can say with certainty that if Pinortus had been available to anglers back then, it would have been a standout.
