Two favorite combinations produce again!

I had the privilege of going to fish with my friend Fanie Oosthuizen, a fellow angler whose enthusiasm for fishing is contagious.

We set out to a picturesque venue just outside the charming town of Parys, nestled along the serene banks of the Vaal River.

It was a perfect day; the sun was shining, and the gentle breeze offered a refreshing respite. As we prepared our gear, the sound of water flowing harmoniously against the rocks created a sense of tranquility that amplified our anticipation for the day ahead.

I used two of my favorite bait combinations, which had never failed to produce good results before, and they were once again very successful.

1) For my first setup, I opted for Spookasem Soft floaties on both hooks, a choice that I had come to trust over the years.

The awesome Caramel flavor of the floaties captivated my target species. I backed the top hook with a backing of dough, strategically placed behind the floatie.

For added attraction, I smeared one side of my bait ball with Spookasem Boldip, a potent Caramel enhancer known for drawing fish, and on the other side, I applied Swiss Boldip, providing a contrasting Caramel and Chocolate flavor profile.

To top it all off, I poured the entire ball with Dcx Boldip, creating an irresistible feast for the fish lurking below.

2) My second combination was equally enticing; on the bottom hook, I secured a Traction Mealie (for which the recipe can be found in the “Bottled Mealies” article) alongside a vibrant White hard floatie.
This duo, renowned for its effectiveness, was sure to catch the attention of any passing fish. For the top hook, I chose a Zircon Floating Gem, a colorful addition that would not only attract fish visually but also add another layer of scent when paired with dough as backing.

To enhance my bait ball’s aroma, I applied an few drops of Tfc Boldip and then gave it a final touch—spraying Smokey Spray on one side, while Traction Spray was misted on the other side, ensuring a complex olfactory profile that would entice even the most cautious fish.

As we settled into our spots along the bank, we were pleasantly surprised to see two beautiful muddies caught in our nets, particularly heartwarming given the alarming reports of fish deaths in the Vaal River System due to pollution.
The vitality of these muddies was a welcome sight and a reminder of nature’s resilience.

I caught both muddies on the bottom hook, confirming my suspicion that the Traction mealie coupled with the White hard floatie was a match made in angler’s heaven.

By the end of the day, I had amassed a total of 34 fish—21 carp, 11 yellowfish, and those 2 exquisite muddies.

Each catch contributed to an unforgettable experience, filled with laughter, stories, and the fresh scent of the river.

It was a particularly lovely day alongside the water, a testament to the joy fishing brings to our lives and the beauty of nature surrounding us.
How to: Spookasem, Swiss and Dcx Combination

To begin with, we utilize Spookasem Boldip, a caramel infused with white fluorescein.

Use Spookasem Boldip to cover half of the feed ball, where the Spookasem floatie and Spookasem Chooby are secured.

We also incorporate Swiss Boldip, a chocolate infused with white fluorescein, as our second flavor.

Apply Swiss Boldip to the remaining half of the feed ball.

Finally, we present our third boldip for this application: Dcx Boldip.

For the final step in the application process, apply Dcx boldip generously on top of the ball, allowing it to evenly spread across the surface.
How to: Traction, Tfc and Smokey Combination

First, we utilize Traction Spray, which features a refreshing pineapple flavor.

Apply two to three sprays of traction spray on one side of the ball.

The second flavor in this combination is the Smokey Spray.

Apply two to three sprays of Smokey Spray on the opposite side of the ball.

The final flavor in this combination is Tfc Boldip.

Apply two to three drops of Tfc directly onto the top of the ball.

You have successfully completed this combination and are now ready to cast.
