It started with a call one day

Let’s start at the beginning.

The Story Behind the RPA Name

A few years ago, Amanda Swart—then the manager of the Ladies Protea team—approached me with a request: to create a unique instant dough for the Protea ladies, with Banana & Garlic as the key flavors.

The team first fished with this special blend during the Tri-Nations Tournament in Namibia, where it proved to be an instant success. The ladies not only caught fish in abundance but also went on to win the tournament convincingly. At that stage, however, the dough still had no name.

About a month later, Magic Baits hosted its very first Children’s Day, an outreach event where we took underprivileged kids out for a day of fishing. The venue, kindly provided to us free of charge, was on the grounds of RPA.

Once again, the Banana & Garlic dough was the standout performer. Almost every angler that day caught the majority of their fish on it. It was after this event that everything clicked—the dough finally received its name:
Magic Baits RPA Instant Dough.

From there, the success of RPA grew. What started as a single dough product was soon expanded into other ranges, including:

RPA Bol Dip

RPA Small Bleeding Floaties

RPA Chooby

This made RPA the very first Magic Baits product that began as an instant dough and later evolved into an entire product line.
