Certain Magic Baits muti’s are thin, while others are thicker. Each specific muti is
designed to leak flavor according to a pre-determined strategy.

Magic Baits Cyclone muti is very thin, thus allowing a quick release of the drawing power that this Vicks flavor permits.

On the other side of the spectrum as an example, the Magic Baits Just Black Muti, is a very thick product, thus creating a very slow release of the food signal that this secret molasses mix gives off.

Mutis vs Boldips vs Sprays

In this section, I’ll provide an overview of our Muti’s, Boldips, and Sprays at Magic Baits. It’s important to note that the concentrate levels in all three products are identical; the only difference lies in the base, which refers to the raw materials used in their formulation.

Muti 50ml (Dip):

The 50ml Muti’s, also known as dips, are specifically crafted to flavor your bait by allowing it to absorb the concentrated essence. This product is designed to cling to the bait, enhancing its appeal. Depending on the base mix, some flavors may have a thicker consistency than others. The primary function of this product is to flavor hook bait or to enhance the taste of pre-flavored products.

Boldip 100ml:

Our 100ml Boldips are intended for use on feed balls, commonly referred to as mealie bomb. Unlike typical thick boldip products, Boldips come in varying consistencies. For instance, certain Boldips, like Hlx and GeeBee, have a thinner texture that allows them to be absorbed into the feed ball, while a thicker Boldip is then layered on top. This layering technique ensures that the first Boldip releases quickly into the water, followed by a subsequent scent. For example, you can layer HLX Boldip underneath Just Black Boldip, or GeeBee Boldip with either Dcx or Just Black Boldip. The thinner scents disperse more easily in water, quickly attracting fish, while the thicker options are designed to linger longer, releasing scents gradually.

A common question among anglers is why the 100ml Boldip does not cost twice as much as the 50ml Muti. The answer lies in several factors: first, the raw materials used for Muti’s are significantly more expensive.

Secondly, Muti’s glass packaging incurs higher costs compared to the cheaper packaging of Boldips. As a result, Boldips are more affordable per ml, they are not priced at double the price of the Muti’s.

Sprays 50ml:

The 50ml Sprays are formulated to be applied directly onto the bait balls/feed balls (mealiebomb). They utilize a unique base called an Atomizer for an even distribution. Many anglers prefer these sprays due to their ease of use and the mess-free application they provide.

In conclusion, while Muti’s, Boldips, and Sprays each possess their own distinct bases, the flavor levels across all products remain consistent.

Muti = PVA Friendly

All Magic Baits Mutis are designed as PVA-friendly products. These items are specifically formulated to work with PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) bags or mesh, which dissolve in water, delivering the bait or contents precisely where you need them. This compatibility ensures that the products will not harm or dissolve the PVA material itself. Typical examples of PVA-friendly options include various pellets, liquids, and prepared baits.

HNV Program Early 2023

Opening a bottle of Crimson is pure nostalgia. I remember as a young angler smelling this flavor every time I opened a Muti box.

It has been sitting there unnoticed, gathering dust over the years, but when a particularly challenging fishing day left me frustrated and desperate, I thought to myself, this might just be that one thing that works. And boy, did it!

The moment I uncapped the bottle, a flood of memories washed over me—days spent near tranquil lakes, the sun warming my back as I cast my line into shimmering waters.

The enchanting scent of Crimson, a sweetened mix of different strawberry concentrates, immediately transported me back to those simpler times.

This flavor, with its unmistakable allure, is like a secret weapon in my tackle box. Like all our other Magic Bait products, the Crimson Flavor can be used in all conditions and temperatures, making it incredibly versatile.

Whether I’m fishing in the early morning chill or under the scorching midday sun, the Crimson never disappoints, consistently drawing in bites.

Get your GAG to BRAG …! November 2022

In the early summer of 2022, our competitive anglers had been requesting a new flavor specifically aimed at targeting muddies.

We were unaware at that time that this innovative development would not only excel at attracting muddies but would also be favored by carp and catfish.

To create this enticing blend, we sourced two unique cheese concentrates from a reputable supplier and combined them with a new base.

The result was an incredibly pungent odor that nearly caused nausea. Thus, we named it GAG.

Years later, GAG has become a household name among anglers targeting muddies, carp, and catfish. Michael Cato, our developer, coined the slogan for the product during its early stages:

“Get your GAG, to BRAG!”

Weerlig Muti, a Win at All Tvl’s in Testing Phase, August 2020

In the world of business, we often encounter individuals who, though they may only be part of our journey for a short time, leave a lasting impact both personally and professionally. One such individual was Vissie Visser, the visionary behind Weerlig Muti.

He inspired our owner, Michael Cato, to develop a powerful TCP muti based on real honey. This idea gave rise to Weerlig Muti, which quickly became a sensation. Notably, Tommy Meyer clinched the All Transvaal Championships and secured third place at the South African Championships using this product.

Competitive angler JR Smith also achieved remarkable success at Bloemhof Dam with Weerlig Muti.

Furthermore, Clinton Limper caught the most fish at a South African Championship while using it.

Recreational anglers, too, reported impressive results, landing numerous fish and several sizeable carp thanks to Weerlig Muti.

Launched in 2020, Weerlig Muti quickly found its way into the tackle boxes of numerous competitive and recreational anglers.

They say good things take time, but now it is almost here.

The most seasoned anglers who regularly fish the Vaal River system know all too well from their own experience and contact with other anglers who regularly fish the Vaal River system that honey and eucalyptus produce good catches.

Honey contains fructose which sweetens the product and carp like it sweet and it gives nutritional value. On most banks along the Vaal River you will find eucalyptus trees and it is believed that this is why eucalyptus works well for catching carp.

My brother Johan Oosthuizen and I came up with the idea of combining the two and so we approached Michael, ‘The Magician’, at Magic Baits with the concept and asked him to put together a test product. As soon as we opened it we realised this was a special dip.

The product was a mild flavour with predominantly natural eucalyptus honey, a mild honey concentrate with a slight addition of eucalyptus oil concentrate. The product is also manufactured with only the rest of the mutis with H.N.V. This stands for ‘High Nutritional Value’

The product is manufactured with the addition of proteins, minerals and aminos to make the product more attractive to the fish. So it is more nutritious for the fish.

So the dippie not only smells good, it is also really good for the fish.

Johan and I had the privilege of testing the Bluegum dip and it immediately became a favorite, the fish lined up to pick up the bait.

Twinkie Forced Launch Early 2019

During the testing phase of Twinkie Muti—a new bait created from a blend of two banana concentrates and distinguished by its white color—we unexpectedly found ourselves compelled to launch the product ahead of schedule.

The decision came in response to an overwhelming demand from the public and our anglers.

Requests for immediate production and a swift launch of Twinkie Muti poured in.

The feedback we received from various testers was astonishing, exceeding our high expectations from the outset.

Both social and competitive anglers who had the opportunity to try Twinkie Muti unanimously agreed: this new Banana X Mix is a clear winner.

Saturn Muti Launched at OutdoorXShow  June 2018.

At the start of 2018, I realized that the MaGic Baits range was missing a Peach flavor.

My goal was to create a distinctive peach profile that had never been seen before. Rather than relying solely on a single concentrate, I chose to innovate by blending three different peach concentrates, with the Saturn Peach Concentrate serving as the primary flavor.

I vividly remember the first test when Bennie Oosthuizen incorporated Saturn into his strategy and emerged victorious in his club competition.

Additionally, I recall a personal fishing trip to College Plaas at Vaaldam, where I had a highly successful day using the Saturn Test mixture combined with Gta Muti.

In June 2028, the Saturn muti was introduced to the world during the remarkable Outdoor X Show, marking an extraordinary launch.

This venture embraces HNV, or High Nutritional Value, prioritizing the addition of proteins, essential minerals, and amino acids, all of which make the product not just irresistible, but also significantly more nutritious for the fish. The result? It cannot be anything other than a killer dip that promises to attract even the most elusive catches.

The new PB dip was in a meticulous testing phase, which allowed us to fine-tune its potential. We had a PB 1, PB 2, and PB 3, each carefully crafted with varying amounts of flavor enhancers and secret potions, giving every Test angler a chance to discover which blend will yield the best results on the water.

The excitement grew as we monitor the outcomes, for it was the dip that proved most effective in attracting catches that would eventually claim its rightful spot on the Magic Baits shelf.
