Club Competition at Krugersdrift Dam
Johann Nel
On 28 September 2025, I fished a Bloemfontein Angling Club Competition at Krugersdrift Koppe from 7:00am to 3:00pm.

The weather was wet and cloudy after a good rainfall the day before, and the river was flowing nicely. Conditions looked promising, with more fish coming out than the previous day.

I drew peg 9, right in the middle of the two zones, which meant plenty of line pressure on the bank. It wasn’t an easy day, but by sticking to my combinations I managed to get the bites.

On my left rod, fishing 75m and 105m, I used PB Muti and Rubine (Crimson) Liquid Gems with Beast, Honey Glow, and Cinnamon X floats.

On the right rod, cast at 85m and 125m, I switched it up with Chicken Blood and paired it with Sweetroot and Gag floats, along with a Kariba worm to tempt a barbel or two.

The plan worked—by the end of the session, I landed 4 carp and 4 barbel, which earned me 4th place in my zone.

A big thank you once again to Magic Baits for their top-quality products that made this possible.
