Nestled in the heart of the Vredefort Dome, a UNESCO World Heritage Site formed by the impact of the oldest and largest meteorite to strike Earth 2 billion years ago, Sunnyside River Lodge offers a unique escape.

This vast, 300 km wide crater is surrounded by stunning mountains, bushveld, and diverse African wildlife native to the captivating South African highveld.

Spanning three generations, the history of Sunnyside River Lodge began as a family cattle and crop farm, strategically located between majestic mountains and the tranquil Vaal River.

This idyllic setting has become a haven for families and adventurers seeking a weekend getaway just outside the city.

With the intent to share this slice of paradise, we transformed our farm into the welcoming guest lodge it is today.

Here, fishermen relax along lush riverbanks, while hunters seek adventure in the wild. Children discover thrills in nature, and city dwellers find solace away from the urban bustle.

Each evening, guests gather around the fire beneath a starry sky, enveloped by the soothing sounds of the night.
