Description:
Located on the outskirts of Springs, the venue is a short drive from the major cities and towns in the Gauteng region. It features a lake that is home to carp, catfish, and bass, and is designed to be easily accessible and safe. This popular spot is well-managed and offers restricted entry, making it ideal for a family getaway or a relaxing day outdoors.
To reach the lake, take the N17 Secunda highway just outside of Springs. If you’re coming from Johannesburg, pass through the Dalpark Plaza Toll gate in Brakpan and head east towards Springs. After you pass the offramp for Springs Mall, continue for 4 kilometers and then turn left off the freeway onto Anchor Road. Follow this short road to a T-junction, where you will turn right. After traveling 2.6 kilometers, turn left onto the gravel road, which will lead you for 2 kilometers to the entrance of the venue.
Entry to Aston Lake is tightly controlled, with a manned office and a boom gate operating from 06:00 to 18:00. To ensure a pleasant experience, the owner limits the number of visitors, allowing for plenty of space between anglers. If you plan to visit over the weekend, it’s advisable to arrive early, around 05:30. Weekdays tend to be less crowded, but expect increased angler presence starting Thursday as campers begin to settle in for the weekend.
