Today, I made the decision to stop complaining about my flu and joined my wife, Mika Siwele, for a half-day fishing session.
We arrived at Harties by 10:30 AM and started casting our lines at 11:00 AM. My wife used a BAT SHADOW CARP 8ft rod paired with a BAT SIRENE 4000 reel, and we chose Magic Bait’s White Warrior Floaties as our bait.
Just as we were getting ready to pack up, her reel suddenly screamed, and she successfully landed an impressive 9kg carp. That’s her personal best! Congratulations to her!

During my fishing trip, I decided to test these products, and the results were impressive.
I fished with 2 x Bloekom Heuning Sluggers complemented by a small piece of white dough and backed with a Honey Glow Chooby.
The Carp were clearly attracted to this combination. For my Heavyweight Feed ball, I relied on the irresistible flavors of Honeycomb SlowLeak and Yellow Navigator.

This weekend at Oranjeville was nothing short of extraordinary! I had an incredible fishing experience where I managed to catch two stunning mirror carp. 🤩
For bait, I prepared a simple yet effective combination. The night before, I soaked plain mealies in Traction flavour. On the hook, I paired it with Cotton Candy Duo Floaties on a #2 Wizard quik-set hook, and to enhance the attraction, I added some Traction boldip to the ball. This strategy seemed to perfectly entice the carp!

I started with adding the bait enhancers and heavyweight feed to a pot of cooked mielies to create a feeding spot at a casting range.
The plan was to start feeding early and then only to start fishing late afternoon, I could not contain myself by lunch time the rods were in already.
Before dark, I already had X4 bites and X4 fish landed.
Ended the weekend with 22 fish, most of them in the 2.5 to 3.5 kg. Very welcome in my books.
I must commend the latest arrival of the H.E.P hook bait enhancers it is next level.

Johan Oosthuizen shared his second impressive catch from a specimen fishing trip on the Vaal River, just outside of Parys.
During this outing, he used a hair rig with two Honey Glow Mealies as bait, which he enhanced by coating it in Honey Comb HEP powder.
Additionally, he prepared a PVA bag infused with Honey Comb SloLeak Magic Potion for even better results.

Magic Baits Used: 50/50 Magic Baits Heavyweight feed and Popcorn feed with Cypri.
After my first catch at 14:00, I switched both rods to the only successful combination of the day. For the top hook, I used a Double Monster Carp small bleeding float, which I dipped in water and then in HEP Creamy Malt. For the bottom hook, I opted for a Single GAG small bleeding float, also dipped in water and HEP Creamy Malt. Additionally, I applied Spyker Groen spray and Tornado spray on the bomb.
I managed to conclude the day with three beautiful fish. Special thanks to Michael Eduard Cato and Magic Baits for providing such fantastic products.

Fishing Box Winter ClassicFish caught: 11 Carp Overall, it was a challenging weekend filled with cold and windy conditions.
My primary aim was to catch larger fish rather than focusing on quantity, and I managed to secure a total of 11 Carp, with the largest weighing 3.16 kg, ranking as the fourth biggest Carp in the tournament.
For my setups, I used magical baits that truly helped in achieving my goal:
Left rod: Clipped on 75m for the initial cast, then switched to open spool. I used T.A.K and Spookasem dips, complemented with 4×4 Gems and Vampire fluoro floaties.
Right rod: Started with a clip on 125m, followed by open spool. I chose Crimson liquid gems and Spyker groen dips, paired with Caramel x and Cinnaman X floaties.

On Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, Renaldo Nel (Jnr) took part in the Kavalier Hengel Klub’s club competition held at Vaaldam, Jan se Plek.
He achieved an impressive 1st place in the Juniors category, catching 9 fish with a total weight of 5.3 kg.
Throughout the competition, he won awards for three species—carp, yellowfish, and muddy fish—and also claimed the title for the largest yellowfish.
His successful tactics included using Magic Baits Heavyweight feed.
The top combinations that worked well for him were the Eucalyptus ‘Gumtree’ Magic Baits SloLeak potion on the bol, paired with PB Floaties on the hooks.

On Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, I participated in a club competition for Kavalier Hengel Klub at Jan’s Place, located on the banks of the Vaal Dam.
I finished in overall 3rd place, landing 13 fish with a total weight of 6.93 kg. Among my catches, I also secured the title for the largest Muddy of the day.
My success was largely thanks to Magic Baits’ Heavy Weight Feed.
The most effective setup included the Baas Ben, Yellow Navigator, and Gee Bee on the bomb, complemented on the top hook, a soft Warrior Floatie and a bottom hook a Riverstone Floating Gem and Kariba worm.

During a recent visit to my favorite fishing spot along the Vaal River, just outside Parys, I had the pleasure of using SloLeak Magic Potions alongside a new product, HEP.

For my bait setup, I used a trimmed Banana X Mealie paired with two Banana X Bleeding Floaties.

Overnight success at the Vaalriver with SlowLeak and H.E.P Rich Corn 🌽
Saterday late afternoon I decided to take on the cold banks of the Vaalriver to see if I can get a reel on the run. On arrival I saw the fish were super active at about 40m infront of me. I waisted no time and Mixed my Heavyweight popcorn Feed and a Hint of the C.S Liquid Carp Food Feed Booster and that gave me the edge.
My hook baits were simple with a plain hard flaoti with a dough dipped back into in the 🌽Rich Corn H.E.P insuring me that my hookbait will be full of flavor and is no match for the Vaalriver.
I was rewarded with a beautiful mirror Carp in the early hours of the morning followed up with another stunning looking common Carp.

Mid week session Wednesday, thought I would have the dam to myself to my surprise stands were filling up fast.
Yet again, I left my favorite rod at home, but it’s not the rods that matter so much it’s the baits, and that was definitely in.

Was still getting my second rod ready, and the first rod went tight. Boom fish on.
9 fish later, very happy indeed, all thanks to the Magic Baits in my tackle box, whoop whoop.

Winter fishing is never easy but the top quality products from MaGic Baits – The Magic lingers on ……. always produces decent fish when it’s cold and windy.
Got to the dam and started fishing at about 07:30, conditions in the morning were very favourable however it turned out to be challenging as the day went on with wind gusts and cold.
None the less I baited up with some Vapire Muti on the Bol combined with Shorty’s Da Vat Hy (toffee). Top hook had a small soft Vampire floatie with Caramel X sweet dough as backing. Bottom hook was baited with a Shorty’s Da Vat Hy small float and Vampire Chooby as backing. This combination consistently produces decent fish at this venue.
Managed to bag 2 +/- 2.5 kg common carp for the day of which a 3rd one unfortunately broke off as I was about to net it.
It is needless to say that the consistent catches even in tough weather can all be owed to the excellent calling ability, strength and quality of Magic Baits!!!

Combinations Used:
To start, I used Magic Baits Heavyweight feed with C.S. Liquid Carp Food feed booster.
I used a great combo, the good ol’ peppermint crisp as I call it, which worked with my previous fish at this venue. I combined Swiss (Chocolate and white fluoro) and 40 000 (Peppermint Lemonade) on my mielie bomb, with the top hook, I added two 40 000 floaties, and on the bottom hook, I used a Banana mielie. This combo was so nice, I did it twice, and caught my second fish a 3.5kg carp on exactly the same setup.
Winter fishing is not easy, but once again, Magic Baits always produces and makes it magical.
