The Goose Did the Trick at Rooibult

Our weekend session at Rooibult, Vaaldam turned out to be one of those trips where everything just came together perfectly. My wife, Claudette, managed to put several beautiful carp on the bank – and all thanks to some carefully chosen Magic Baits combinations and a little homemade mix I call “Goose.”
The Winning Combinations
Claudette fished two standout setups that produced consistent bites throughout the day:
Vampire Small Bleeding Floaties paired with HLX and Duiwelsdrek.
Red Quartz (Magenta) Floating Gems paired with my special dip mix – Goose.
The Vampire Floaties combo was deadly on the day – the colour and scent blend of HLX and Duiwelsdrek created a strong, lingering trail that pulled carp in from a distance. But it was the Red Quartz Floating Gems with Goose that truly surprised us.
🧪 What’s in the Goose?
Over time I’ve experimented with different mixes of Boldips to create something unique. “Goose” was born from a bit of trial, error, and curiosity.
Here’s the recipe:
1 part GTA Boldip
1 part DCX Boldip
1 part FBI Boldip
1 part TFC Boldip
1 part Spyker Boldip
1 part Beast Boldip
I mix them all together and then let the blend “cook” for a few days, giving the flavours time to marry and mellow. The result is a deep, complex scent that seems to trigger feeding even on quieter days.
🎯 Rooibult Results
The carp at Rooibult couldn’t resist. The bites came steadily, and every fish seemed to hit the bait with confidence. We actually started off with different floaties and mutis, but the moment we switched to the Vampire and Red Quartz setups, things just lit up.
Sometimes, all it takes is the right combination of colour, scent, and timing – and a touch of patience.
