Winds, Heat, and Ice-Cold Water at Waterside Heaven Resort
Thomas Pandaram
On 6 September 2025, I spent the day at the bottom dam of Waterside Heaven Resort in Alberton, fishing from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The conditions were testing, with the day starting overcast, quickly turning hot and very windy, while the water temperature remained icy cold – a real challenge for any angler.

To adapt, I set up two different bait combinations.

Rod 1 was armed with White Warrior Small Bleeding Floaties and HLX Small Bleeding Floaties, paired with a Plain Chooby on the bottom hook.

Both the bomb and the hookbait were dipped, with the new GAG HEP (Hookbait Enhancing Powder), and boosted with Beast Muti and FBI Boldip for extra pulling power.

Rod 2 featured a mix of RPA Small Bleeding Floaties and Banana X Small Bleeding Floatiess, again with plain chooby backing on both hooks.

This setup got dipped in Banana Jamaica HEP (Hookbait Enhancing Powder), with a touch of Creamy Coconut Milk SloLeak and Banana X Boldip on the bomb to round off the flavour profile.

For feeding, I relied on Heavyweight Feed enhanced with CS Liquid Carp Feed Booster, designed to hold fish in the area despite the tricky weather and icy water.

It was a day of battling elements and experimenting with flavour-packed combinations, proving once again that persistence and fine-tuned bait selection are key when the conditions get tough.
